T.V. Time

I let my kids watch T.V. but they are only allowed to watch a small amount at a time. I am not a big T.V. person and don’t think it is good for them either. Now that the kids are getting older I am also teaching them that it is important to help out. When we leave I have Cade turn off the light or the T.V. I have showed him which button to push on the remote and he thinks he is something special. The other day Caylee heard me bragging on Cade and decided she would learn to turn off the T.V. as well.  So now they are experts! I learned this the other morning. Jeff was sitting here watching the NFL channel and I guess the kids were bored so they went into the other room. They were being very quiet so I decided to see what they were up to. Come to find out they had went into our bedroom, found the remote, and turned on the T.V. to watch cartoons. I couldn’t help but laugh at the fact that they just took it upon themselves to go find their own show to watch. I never know what they will think of next.

No Momma

A couple of weekends ago Mom and Dad invited the kids and I to come over for the weekend since Jeff was overnights. So of course I said sure. We were going to go over Friday night in Dad’s truck. The kids were so excited to get a ride in Papa’s truck. That morning I got them up and dressed. I told them that today was the day we were going to get to ride in Papa’s truck and spend the night with Grandma and Papa. Cade looked at me and said, “We get to go all by ourselves.” I told him that I was going too. He looked at me with desperate eyes and said, “No Momma you stay here. Caylee and I will go by ourselves.” I didn’t know quite what to think at first. My little man is growing up and becoming more and more independent each and every day. I thought of all the times Joey and I spent the night with the grandparents and how much fun we had, and decided that it would be a good time for the grandparents and I could get some time to myself as well. So they loaded up and headed out. I did go over the next day but Cade didn’t seem to mind.

Little Ape

Every parent knows that if you can’t see your kids and it is very quiet something is going on. A few weeks back I had one of those moments. The kids had been back in Caylee’s room playing nicely when all of a sudden it got deathly quiet and I could have heard a pin drop. I decide to make my way back and see what was going on. I peek into her room and Cade is sitting quietly looking at a book. However, the room isn’t right. There is a diaper box from the closet in the floor and hangers are everywhere. I look in her closet and see Caylee hanging from the bar at the top swinging back and forth like a monkey. I grabbed her, pulled her down, and explained to her that she could fall and break an arm. Scared me to death, but being Caylee that was far from the end of it. Every stinkin’ chance she gets she will sneak in there and be swinging full force. I had to start busting her to try and get her to quit. One morning she informed me that if she swings in the closet she will get a spanking but if Grandma and Papa are here she will jump. Haha, I told her regardless of who is here she will get busted every time she decides to swing in her closet. She doesn’t swing as often but she still tries it every now and again. :)

The Car is Broke

The other day Mom and I were in the car going shopping. We came off I-40 to the Coulter exit. As you exit, there is a Golden Corral right there at the light. I could smell the food cooking and said something to Mom about it. A few minutes later Cade is sitting in the back seat and says, “Mom it smells hot, the car must be broke.” Haha, I don’t think the Golden Corral will be calling us anytime soon for a commercial but I sure thought it was cute.

We Need to Talk

After Jeff has had a long day at work he always comes in and sets his lunchbox down in the kitchen. Then he squats down eye-level with the kids and listens to them ramble on about their day. A few days back he came home and set his things down. As he turned around to say something to me Caylee walks up to him and in a very grown up voice says, “Sit down Dad we need to talk.” We both looked at each other with our eyes the size of half dollars. I don’t know what we thought she was going to say but we hadn’t really thought much about this little routine until that moment. She then went on with her daily storytelling. Now, no matter what is going on, Jeff’s first instinct is to sit down and listen to Cade and Caylee share their day.

Dirty

Lastnight the kids were talking on their “phones”. I ask Cade who he was talking to and he said that it was Rox. I then ask what she was doing and he said that she was “tired”. So I told him that was because she was older than dirt. He got all wound up and said, “Oh no Rox is diiirrrttty?” I busted out laughing. However, the story gets better. A few minutes later Caylee walks up and says, “Rox is dirty.” I had to call and tell great aunt Rox the story. This morning the kids were playing and out of the blue Caylee says, “Granny is dirty.” Cade said, “No she not dirty.” Bahaha, it is so funny how their little minds work. Moral of the story: If my kids come up and tell you that you are dirty they really don’t mean anything by it.:) My apologies to Rox and Granny.

Cute Little Caylee

Caylee is so stinkin’ cute even if I do say so myself. This post is to recognize a few of her cutest moments in the last few weeks.

1) She loves to sing and dance. She will come up to me and sing happy and clap. Her favorite is “If your Happy and you know it.” I will sing it for her and she will perform all the moves until she gets so excited all she can do is squeal. When we go for walks if you are quite you can hear her sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” as we push her in the stroller. PRECIOUS!!

2) Because we are always telling the kids, “I love you” at random moments Caylee has started coming up to us and saying “I love you too” at random moments. Makes my heart flutter.

3) The other night I was going to watch a movie. Caylee ask me what I was doing. I told her I was going to watch a chic-flic. She then said, “Momma watch chicken.” Haha, such sweetness.

4) We always tell Caylee that she is our little Princess. Well it has kind of went to her head. Now every time we get her dressed she says, “I princess.” Then the other night Mom came over and Caylee was being ugly. So, I swatted her on the bottom. She started crying, looked up at Grandma, and in a pitiful little voice said, “Princess got spanking.” So hilarious now but not when she is a teenager. ;)

5) When Jeff is off we always try to do something fun as a family. This last weekend we took the kids to the park. We took a soccerball, football, baseball, and gloves. We were teaching Cade how to play soccer and I look up. Caylee went into the goal to get a ball and her head went right through the net. It is wrapped around her throat and she is hung squealing. It looked so funny. Wish we would have got a picture.
